The tank controls how much water is released per flush – 1.28 GPF, 1.6 GPF, etc. The bowl simply receives whatever volume the tank delivers. A 1.28 GPF toilet and a 1.6 GPF toilet use different tanks, but the bowl is exactly the same.

When paired with the correct tank, the toilet can meet the standards for EPA WaterSense, and California's CEC and CALGreen requirements.
