• What does back-spud vs top-spud mean?
Spud refers to which side the valve connects to the toilet bowl - back-spud valves enter from the wall behind the toilet, top-spud valves enter from above. Look at your existing toilet's water inlet position before you order; back-spud and top-spud aren't interchangeable. If your toilet was designed for back-spud, you need a back-spud valve.
• Does ECOPOWER need batteries or external power?
No batteries and no wiring. ECOPOWER generates its own electricity from the force of water flowing through the valve each time it activates, then stores it for the next use. That's why commercial facilities prefer ECOPOWER - no battery replacement schedule and no electrician needed for installation.
• What's the difference between IoT-Ready and IoT-Enabled?
IoT-Ready means the product is built to work with TOTO's smart-monitoring system but needs a separately-sold communication card to activate. IoT-Enabled comes with the card already installed and ready to connect. Both perform the same core functions - the IoT module adds remote usage tracking, maintenance alerts, and diagnostic data for facility managers.
• Is the cover plate included?
Yes. The brushed stainless cover plate ships with the valve and covers the in-wall cavity for a clean, finished installation. Compatible with standard commercial flushometer cavities.
• Will this work with my existing 1.28 GPF toilet?
This 1.28 GPF valve is designed for commercial flushometer-style toilets (not residential tank toilets). It works with any flushometer toilet rated for the same 1.28 GPF flow that has a back-spud water inlet. If your toilet is rated for a different flow rate, the wrong valve will under- or over-flush - match the rates carefully.

Powered by the force of running water, ECOPOWER hydro-turbines create an electrical current that is stored in rechargeable cells to power the sensor of the valve. The ECOPOWER flush valve is highly efficient, replenishing power stores with no minimum daily usage.
No external power source or battery replacement is necessary. Ensuring that water flows only when needed, the self-adjusting ECOPOWER sensor is now stronger with a wider detection range that eliminates ghost flushing that could waste water, and now supports improved automatic flushing to prevent missed flushes. A manual override flush button is present when needed.
